Company president Bill Scalzi fought hard in Connecticut on behalf of the disability community to provide the state’s first wheelchair accessible taxi service in 2009 for the state of Connecticut. Scalzi created a new version of the New Freedom Fund to provide a 50% transportation discount for the elderly and disabled populations who, prior to that, had been subjected to limited travel and inflated costs. His company also continuously works with local agencies to provide free rides to medical appointments for persons who are not able to afford transportation. Scalzi led the way for more environmentally friendly transportation, bringing to Connecticut the first fleet of compressed natural gas (CNG) taxis and also opening the state’s first public CNG fueling station. Today, he operates 125 CNG vehicles and over 100 wheelchair accessible vehicles. For over 30 years, Scalzi has supported numerous local organizations as a philanthropist and strong community advocate.
