What is Non-Emergency Medical Transportation?
Non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) is provided to people that need assistance in getting to and from medical appointments. NEMT is not limited to medically vulnerable individuals; those who are unable to operate a vehicle or use public transportation, such as post-surgical patients, greatly benefit from NEMT. Transportation companies providing this service may offer ambulatory, paratransit, or stretcher modes of service. Although most passenger trips are booked with an advanced reservation, larger NEMT providers offer a demand-response service to coincide with the uncertainty of the duration of medical visits.
Non-emergency medical transportation is a cost-effective transportation solution.
