How the Greater Hartford Senior Community is Getting Affordable Taxi Services
CT’s Older Adults Get Around Without a Hitch
There is a substantial number of seniors living in the Greater Hartford Area of Connecticut who need help when it comes to transportation. If you are a senior or know a senior that cannot drive or does not have ready access to a vehicle, there are solutions to make getting around easy.
Seniors in Connecticut
A 2021 review shows that over 601,000 of Connecticut residents are aged 60 and older, which is nearly 21% of the state’s population.
A lot of these seniors may need more help with mobility and getting from point A to point B, especially if they live alone or if their guardians aren’t available to provide transportation for them.
Traveling With No Limitations
The efforts made by M7 Ride and the Greater Hartford Transit District has since resulted in the development of a federally funded program that provides affordable rates for seniors, called the Encompass Program.
Encompass trips are discounted, with seniors paying only $5 for the first 8 miles and $2 for every additional mile while in the vehicle. Wheelchair Accessible, ADA compliant vehicles are available upon request.
